General Questions

Is the Seterra Geography website free to use?

Yes, all quizzes and printables on the website are free for anyone to use. If you want to experience the website without ads or define your own custom locations on any of the maps, you can pay a small monthly fee, read more.

I am a Seterra member. Where can I find a list of all the custom quizzes I have created?

When logged in, click your email address in the top right corner of the online.seterra.com website.

If you are logged in on a mobile device, the email address might not be visible. In that case, follow this link: /seterra/myaccount.aspx

How can I add custom locations to my quizzes?

We created a short video explaining how to add custom locations to custom quizzes:

>> Adding custom locations in Seterra (YouTube video)

You need a Seterra membership in order to be able to create custom locations. Please note that you will only be able to add "dots" to the map, not rivers or regions.

I created a custom quiz, but forgot to add one location. How can I modify it?

Just go to the custom quiz, and click the link "Create custom quiz" above the map again, and you will be able to add or remove any locations.

How can I learn more about using the Seterra website?

The best way to familiarize yourself with the features of the Seterra website is to watch our YouTube videos:

Why is not Palestine included as a country in the default versions of your quizzes?

Palestine’s inclusion in the Asia quizzes depends on the language version you’re using. For example, in English, Palestine is not included since the major English-speaking countries (United States, Canada, United Kingdom, etc.) do not recognize Palestine. If you load the Asia quizzes in Polish, Romanian or Swedish, for example, Palestine is included since Poland, Romania and Sweden recognize Palestine as a country.

You can always add or remove Palestine from quizzes by creating a custom quiz..

Using the Seterra Website in the Classroom

Can I use the Seterra website in the classroom or for remote learning without getting a Seterra membership?

Yes, you definitely can. You can let your students use the standard quizzes on the website for free, of course. You can also create custom quizzes, and email the links to your students, even if you don’t have an account. However, you will not be able to add custom locations or leaderboards to your quizzes, and the quizzes will be deleted when not used by anyone for 30 days.

I am a teacher. How can I see my students’ scores?

If you are a Seterra member, you can create a custom quiz and add a public leaderboard to it. You can read more about leaderboards here.

Do I need to get an account for each of my students so that they can log in to the site?

No. When Seterra is used in schools or for remote learning, the students are generally not logged in. By simply sharing a link with them, you can provide access to your custom quizzes and let students enter their scores on your public leaderboards.

How can I create a custom quiz and send it to my students?

The fastest way to learn about creating and distributing custom quizzes is to watch this video:

>> Creating custom quizzes in Seterra (YouTube video)

You do not need a Seterra membership to be able to create custom quizzes.

How can I add a public leaderboard to my quiz?

Adding a leaderboard to a custom quiz is a fun way to let kids compete against each other, and is a great fit for remote learning. Read more about in the article linked below:

>> Adding public leaderboards to custom quizzes in Seterra (article)

You need a Seterra membership in order to be able to add a public leaderboard. The students using the quiz do not need to be logged in.

Can I see my students’ map quiz scores in Google Classroom?

No. Even if you use the Google Classroom button on the Seterra website to post a quiz to Google Classroom, you will not be able to see your students’ scores in Google Classroom.

Can I print your PDFs and use them in my classroom?

Yes, of course. You can find all our printables here.

Can my students use the Seterra app instead of the Seterra website?

For remote learning, it is probably easier if everyone uses the website (online.seterra.com). The site works well on smartphones and tablets. While it is possible to import custom quizzes to the app, some capabilities offered on the website will not be available; for example, app users won’t be able to enter their scores on the public leaderboards.
